A force value and a useful object-handling result answer different questions; neither diagnoses injury, dexterity or whole-person capability. Braces, adapted handles, two-hand use, forearm support and another person are part of the configuration, not defects to erase. Interpret fictional hand-force and object-task records without squeezing

This supplement uses supplied fictional records, so it is runnable with no physical attempt. Scoring rule

Score each case out of 6: 1 point for a configuration-bound force statement or ‘no force data’; 1 for a separate function statement; 1 for preserving all support; 1 for symptoms; 1 for at least two unknowns; and 1 for the responsible decision. Total 24. Passing requires 21 and correct automatic stops for G2 and hazardous practice based on G4. Any invented diagnosis, maximal-test suggestion, hidden aid or conclusion that more kilograms means better whole-hand function receives STOP.

Worked example

  1. A learner reads G3 and writes, ‘Left pinch strength is 3.1 kg and the person has weak hands because they could not open the clip.’
  2. They repair the force statement to ‘A single fictional 3.1 kg lateral-pinch result was recorded on Gauge P; posture is unknown.’
  3. They separate function: one-hand spring-clip opening was not completed, while two-hand opening with a clip aid was completed.
  4. They preserve the aid and list unknown clip resistance, posture, repeatability and performance on any other task.
  5. They choose KEEP AS A FICTIONAL CONFIGURATION EXAMPLE; no physical retest or stronger squeeze is proposed.
