APPENDICES

Appendix Y: Preventive Maintenance — The Neglected Systems

Purpose and boundary

Preventive care is governed by current local guidance and individual context. Age, anatomy, disability, symptoms, family history, medication, pregnancy, prior results, access and informed preference can change what is appropriate. This appendix names systems to discuss; it does not create a universal schedule, guarantee prevention or rank a person’s maintenance.

Mouth

Use ordinary oral hygiene and dental care appropriate to the person and local guidance. Persistent bleeding, pain, swelling, trauma, loose teeth, swallowing difficulty or another concerning change warrants professional assessment. Oral findings may be associated with other health conditions, but they do not diagnose systemic disease or cardiovascular risk from a checklist.

Ears and hearing

Reduce hazardous noise at the source and use fit-for-purpose hearing protection where exposure requires it. Device volume, duration and individual susceptibility vary; Titan sets no universal headphone percentage. Sudden hearing loss, severe ear pain, discharge, neurological symptoms or acute acoustic injury require prompt clinical assessment. Gradual difficulty also deserves a hearing review rather than stigma or self-diagnosis.

Eyes and vision

Use eye examinations and corrective care according to symptoms, risk and current professional guidance. Screen breaks, lighting and workstation changes may improve comfort for some people but do not prevent disease by a universal rule. Sudden vision loss, a curtain or field defect, severe eye pain, new neurological symptoms or significant trauma uses urgent assessment.

Skin

Follow current local sun- and occupational-exposure guidance appropriate to skin, medication, environment and activity. No sunscreen schedule or self-check replaces professional assessment. A new or changing lesion, non-healing wound, severe burn, infection signs or another concerning change should be reviewed through the appropriate clinical route.

Feet

Foot care supports comfort and mobility. Use footwear and nail care appropriate to the person, and seek assessment for persistent pain, wounds, colour or temperature change, numbness, swelling or infection. People with diabetes, vascular disease, neuropathy or a clinical foot plan should follow individual guidance rather than a book-derived rule.

Pelvic floor

Pelvic-floor symptoms can affect continence, pain, sexual function and daily activity in people of different sexes and life stages. Leaking, pelvic pain, pressure, prolapse symptoms, bowel difficulty or postpartum concerns are not character failures and may be treatable. Titan does not prescribe universal contractions or “Kegels”; assessment and training belong with an appropriately qualified clinician or pelvic-health physiotherapist.

Cycles, pregnancy and life-stage transitions

Menstrual cycles, pregnancy, postpartum, perimenopause and menopause can interact with symptoms, energy, sleep and training, but there is no universal cycle-based loading rule. Track only information that is useful and acceptable to the person, and adapt activity through current clinical guidance where pregnancy, postpartum recovery, bleeding change, pain or significant symptoms are involved.

Screening and vaccination literacy

Use current national or local recommendations and shared decision-making to determine which screening, immunisation or preventive service applies. Ask what the intervention is for, its likely benefits and harms, what the result would change, and how the recommendation fits the individual. Titan neither sets a schedule nor claims an “unbeatable return” for every preventive intervention.

Sexual and reproductive health

Testing, contraception, fertility, menopause care and sexual-function concerns require consent, privacy and individual professional guidance. Recommendations depend on exposure, anatomy, symptoms, pregnancy intentions, medication and jurisdiction. New or persistent changes in sexual or reproductive function are health information worth discussing; they do not permit a diagnosis from Titan.
