A Note for International Readers

This book is written for a global readership, and a few things change from one country to the next. Keep them in mind throughout.

Measurements appear in both metric and imperial—100 kg (220 lb), 15°C (59°F)—so the protocols are usable wherever you live. Where a clinical value has different conventional units, both are shown; blood glucose, for instance, is given in mmol/L with mg/dL alongside.

Reference ranges, available tests, and standard medical practice differ between countries and shift over time. The figures here are widely used guides, not universal constants. Interpret them with a clinician who knows your local norms and your own history.

The legal status of supplements, compounds, and controlled substances varies enormously by jurisdiction—what is sold openly in one country is restricted or illegal in another. Nothing in this book is a recommendation to break the law where you live; check your local regulations before acting.

Self-defense law in particular differs sharply between countries, and even between regions within them: the force the law permits, the duty to retreat, and what counts as reasonable all change with where you stand.
