Overview

Cognitive Enhancement is a schedule for practising defined attention, memory and learning tasks. Practice may improve the trained task; the Program does not upgrade a person’s brain, intelligence or general cognitive capacity.

The practices here may help a reader structure focused work, retrieval and review. Their effect depends on the task and context; no fixed productivity ratio or cross-domain benefit is promised.

Primary Objectives

Progressively develop longer sustained-attention capacity through structured deep-work practice

Build working memory through progressive training

Install memory systems for rapid learning and retention

Observe the conditions associated with absorption in one chosen task, without treating flow as a required or controllable state

Use deliberate practice and adequate sleep opportunity to support one defined learning task

Track task performance and perceived clarity without using either to diagnose a health condition

Create a feasible environment for the selected task

Keep caffeine optional and within current individual health guidance; this Program does not prescribe nootropics

Week-by-Week Protocol

WEEKS 1-2: Attention Training Foundation

Focus: Build focused attention capacity, reduce attention residue, establish deep work habit.

The Attention Training Protocol

Why Attention First:

Attention matters to many cognitive tasks, but it varies with health, sleep, environment and task design. This Program practises attention on defined tasks; it does not diagnose or rebuild a person’s attention span.

Daily Practice Structure:

Morning Attention Training (15-20 minutes):

  1. Single-Point Focus Meditation
  • • Sit comfortably, timer set for 10 minutes (Week 1) or 15 minutes (Week 2)

• Focus on breath sensation at nostrils

• When mind wanders (it will), gently return

• Count: Each “rescue” from distraction strengthens attention

• Goal: Not to never wander, but to notice wandering quickly

  • • After meditation, note: How many times did I wander?

• Rate focus quality: 1-10

• Track daily

Deep Work Sessions:

Initial structure:

Use one bounded work interval short enough to preserve quality, health and obligations; no 90-minute minimum applies.

Reduce only the interruptions that materially impair the task while preserving emergency, access, care and role requirements.

Use single-tasking when it improves the declared output; some work legitimately requires monitoring or coordination.

A timer is optional and should not create pressure or distraction.

Take a break, change task or stop when attention, pain, fatigue, symptoms or obligations require it; no fixed break duration applies.

Progression review:

Add a second work interval only if the first remains useful and sustainable; no two-block target applies.

Schedule demanding work when the person’s alertness, access and obligations make it feasible; morning is not universally best.

Use any later interval only where it serves a defined task at acceptable burden.

Track only the direct output and burden needed to judge the experiment; interruption counting is optional.

The Deep Work Protocol:

Before Session:

  1. Clear physical space
  2. Phone out of room (or in airplane mode, in drawer)
  3. Close all unnecessary browser tabs
  4. One task identified
  5. Water available
  6. Timer set

During Session:

  1. Work only on designated task
  2. If thought arises about something else, write it down, return to task
  3. No checking anything
  4. If stuck, keep working (struggle is part of the process)
  5. Resist urge to task-switch

After Session:

  1. Note what was accomplished
  2. Rate focus quality
  3. Identify any attention leaks
  4. Brief movement break
  5. Plan next session
Attention Rescue Techniques

When Focus Breaks (and it will):

WEEKS 3-4: Memory Systems Installation

Focus: Build external memory systems, learn spaced repetition, install memory palace technique.

Memory Architecture

The Three-Layer Memory System:

Layer 1: Working Memory (Internal)

• What you can hold in mind right now

• Limited to ~4 items

• Trained through meditation and working memory exercises

Layer 2: Long-Term Memory (Internal)

• What you’ve encoded for later retrieval

• Capacity cannot be treated as unlimited; retrieval, interference, prior knowledge and task structure matter.

• Encoding and retrieval practice may support the selected material; no single method is required.

Layer 3: External Memory (Systems)

• Notes, databases, second brain

• External systems remain limited by access, organisation, reliability, privacy and maintenance.

• Organise only enough to retrieve the selected material reliably; different systems may work.

This Program trains all three layers.

Spaced Repetition System (SRS)

What It Is:

Spaced retrieval can improve retention for selected material, but it is not the most efficient method for every learner, task or outcome and there is no universal schedule. (R7D-S04)

Setup:

  1. Choose any accessible tool, including paper, that supports the declared retrieval task; no product is recommended by Titan.
  2. Create deck for your learning domain
  3. Use a review cadence that serves the retention criterion at acceptable burden; daily review is not required.

Card Creation Rules:

• One fact per card (atomic knowledge)

• Question on front, answer on back

• Use images when possible

• Keep cards simple and fast to answer

• Connect to existing knowledge

Daily Protocol:

• Review only the material needed for the declared aim; app-generated due cards are not non-negotiable.

• Add new material only when it does not undermine accuracy, understanding or burden; no daily maximum is prescribed.

• Review duration is determined by the task and burden; no fifteen-to-thirty-minute dose is required.

• Consistency matters more than volume

Sample Cards:

• Q: What is the capital of Portugal? A: Lisbon

• Q: What are the three macronutrients? A: Protein, carbohydrates, fats

Progression:

Formation example: create a small, representative set, establish an answer-key baseline and expand only when accuracy remains reliable.

Maintenance example: compare retention after a declared delay and adjust the review schedule from errors and burden.

Set an accuracy criterion appropriate to the purpose before testing; Titan supplies no universal 80 percent target.

Memory Palace Technique

What It Is:

The memory palace (method of loci) is an ancient technique that uses spatial memory to store information. You mentally place items along a familiar route, then “walk” the route to retrieve them.

How to Build:

  1. Choose Your Palace
  • • Familiar place: Your home, commute route, childhood home

• Clear visual imagery helps but is not required — spatial memory, verbal labels, body-feel, sounds, symbols, or sequence work too

• Should have distinct locations/rooms

  1. Create Stations
  • • Identify 10-20 specific locations in sequence

• Example (home): Front door → entryway → living room couch → TV → kitchen sink → refrigerator → etc.

• Use a stable route when it improves retrieval, but change or replace it when transfer is the actual goal.

  1. Place Items
  • • Use visual, verbal, spatial, auditory, tactile or symbolic cues that improve recall for the person.

• Make them interact with the location

• Unusual imagery may help some people, but emotional intensity is optional and can be counterproductive.

Example: Remembering a grocery list

• Milk at front door: Giant milk carton blocking the door

• Eggs on couch: Chickens laying eggs on cushions

• Bread at TV: TV is made of bread slices

  • • Mentally walk through your palace

• Register each image at each station in your strongest mode — see it, describe it, feel its position, or attach a sound or word

• Translate image back to item

Practice:

Week 3: Build first palace (10 stations), memorize a 10-item list

Week 4: Expand palace or create second one, memorize more complex information

WEEKS 5-6: Learning Acceleration

Focus: Optimize learning process, enter flow states reliably, stack cognitive enhancers.

The Accelerated Learning Protocol

The 4-Stage Learning Model:

Stage 1: PRIME (Before Learning)

• Set clear learning objective

• Skim material to create mental map

• Generate questions to answer

Flow State Protocol

What Is Flow:

Flow is a state of total immersion where challenge meets skill, time disappears, self-consciousness fades, and performance peaks. It’s where your best work happens.

Conditions for Flow:

  1. Clear Goals
  • • Know exactly what you’re trying to accomplish

• Immediate feedback on progress

  1. Challenge-Skill Balance
  • • Task should be slightly beyond current ability

• Too easy = boredom, too hard = anxiety

• Sweet spot: ~4% beyond comfort zone

  1. No Distractions
  • • Interruptions kill flow

• Adjust the environment only when it improves the declared task without removing essential access, communication or safety.

  1. Intrinsic Motivation
  • • Doing the task for its own sake

• Interest in the activity itself

Flow Trigger Protocol:

Pre-Flow (15-30 minutes before):

  1. High consequence or stakes (create deadline, commitment)
  2. Rich environment (complexity, novelty)
  3. Deep embodiment (physical, not just mental)
  4. Remove all distractions
  5. Have all materials ready

Entering Flow:

  1. Start with an uninterrupted interval that is feasible for the task and current attention capacity. Ninety to 120 minutes is not a required flow-state dose.
  2. Begin with a “warm-up” task (easy entry point)
  3. Increase challenge gradually
  4. Notice when you “click in” (usually 15-20 min)
  5. Ride the wave as long as possible

After Flow:

  1. Rest and recover (flow depletes resources)
  2. Don’t immediately check email/phone
  3. Capture insights
  4. Plan next session

Session review: record the declared task, completed output, interruptions, burden and any adverse effects. A self-reported “flow” state is optional context, not a success criterion.

• Did the defined task meet its quality or completion criterion?

• How long did the task take, and what rest or support was used?

• Which conditions appeared useful enough to test again?

• Which interruption, symptom or constraint affected performance?

• Score output with the predeclared rubric rather than a feeling-state rating.

OPTIONAL PHASE: Cognitive Environment and Tool Review

Focus: test one environmental or tool change against a bounded cognitive task. Do not stack interventions or assume a “cognitive enhancer” is required.

Cognitive Environment: Person–Task Fit

Physical environment options:

No universal workspace requirements apply. Record only conditions material to the selected task.

• Use a dedicated or shared space according to availability, accessibility, care and privacy.

• Reduce, retain or add visual information according to task and sensory needs; “minimal clutter” is not universally better.

• Use lighting that is safe, comfortable and suitable for vision and work; natural light is optional.

• Use a safe, comfortable temperature. Titan sets no 68–72°F target.

• Adjust equipment and posture for person–task fit; pain, disability or occupational needs may require qualified ergonomic or clinical support.

• Plants are optional decoration; Titan makes no cognitive-performance claim for them.

• Place communication devices according to task, safety, accessibility and care needs; visibility is not automatically harmful.

Sound environment options:

• Silence may help, hinder or have no effect. Compare task quality and burden.

• Masking sound may help, hinder or have no effect. Test it against the declared task and burden.

• Music may help, hinder or have no effect depending on task and person; lyrics and familiarity are not universal rules.

• Do not prohibit conversation, lyrics or notifications by default; alter only the interruption that matters and preserve access and safety.

Lighting options:

• Choose brightness and colour according to vision, comfort, task and time; 5000 K is not a cognitive target.

• No universal afternoon lighting setting applies.

• Evening lighting should preserve comfort, function and safety; reducing blue light is not a general cognitive protocol.

Digital environment options:

• Blocking tools are optional and should preserve essential, accessible and emergency access.

• Move or retain the phone according to communication, care and safety needs.

• Email windows are role-dependent; compare missed obligations, task quality and burden.

• Use as many windows or tabs as the task and accessibility setup require.

• Configure notifications selectively; total silence is not required.

Cognitive Support, Supplement and Medicine Boundary

Foundational considerations, not requirements:

• Protect adequate sleep opportunity where feasible and assess daytime function. No single sleep duration or routine guarantees cognitive performance.

• Titan does not rank one universal “number one” cognitive enhancer.

Supplements do not replace sleep, nourishment, clinical assessment or task design. Titan provides no consumer cognitive-enhancement stack; product quality, interactions, contraindications and evidence vary. (R7D-S12)

Physical activity: use an appropriate activity plan for health or function. Any cognitive effect is task-, timing- and population-dependent and is not guaranteed.

• Do not promise hours of improved focus after a session; measure the actual task if this question matters.

• A personal training result cannot establish BDNF change or neurogenesis.

Nutrition: follow an adequate, sustainable pattern suited to health, culture, access and medication. No “brain diet” is prescribed.

• Food or supplements are not selected through a universal omega-3 cognition rule.

• A varied diet may include fruit and vegetables, but “antioxidant” foods are not a cognitive treatment.

• Protein needs are individual; food is not prescribed as a neurotransmitter intervention.

Supplement and medicine boundary:

No tier in this book certifies a supplement as an effective or safe cognitive enhancer for an individual.

• Caffeine is optional and can worsen sleep, anxiety, cardiovascular symptoms or interactions. Titan sets no cognitive dose, cycle or timing rule.

  • • No 90-minute delay after waking is required.
  • • No universal ten-hour cutoff applies; review dose, timing, sensitivity, medication and sleep.
  • • A five-days-on/two-days-off cycle is not evidence-based Titan guidance.

• L-theanine combinations are not a Titan cognitive protocol; use the same product, interaction and evidence scrutiny as any supplement.

  • • Do not promise smoother stimulation or fewer jitters.
  • • Consumer use cannot be justified by an “alpha brain-wave” claim.

• Creatine is not required and Titan makes no general cognitive-enhancement claim for it.

  • • Vegetarian status does not establish that a cognitive benefit will occur.
  • • A biochemical role in energy metabolism does not prove a useful cognitive outcome.

• Omega-3 products are not a universal cognitive stack; suitability and dose depend on indication, diet, product and interaction risk.

  • • “Brain structural support” is not a consumer outcome or dosing rationale.
  • • “Anti-inflammatory” is not a general cognitive indication.

Other marketed nootropics:

• Alpha-GPC is not recommended as a general cognitive enhancer, and Titan supplies no dose.

  • • Being a biochemical precursor does not establish memory or focus benefit.
  • • Evidence, product quality and adverse effects are insufficient for a general Titan claim.

• Lion’s Mane is not recommended as a general cognitive enhancer, and Titan supplies no dose.

  • • A nerve-growth-factor mechanism does not establish useful or durable human cognitive improvement.
  • • No long-term cognitive-support outcome is promised.

• Bacopa is not recommended as a general cognitive enhancer, and Titan supplies no dose.

  • • Titan makes no general memory-enhancement claim for this product.
  • • No four-to-six-week effect timetable applies.

Prescription and experimental substances:

• Modafinil and armodafinil are prescription medicines used for defined clinical indications. They are not Titan optimisation tools.

  • • Wakefulness is not equivalent to learning, judgement, health or sustainable performance.
  • • Use only as prescribed and monitored by the treating clinician.

• Racetams and unapproved “research” compounds are not recommended in Titan.

  • • Personal internet research does not establish purity, legality, safety or effectiveness.
  • • Variable response does not make self-experimentation safe.

Safety and governance:

• Start with the task definition, ordinary health foundations and professional route where relevant—not a product stack.

• Do not add products one at a time as an unsupervised N-of-1 cognitive-enhancement experiment.

• Record adverse effects and relevant function only when a product is already used for a legitimate reason; self-tracking does not prove causation or safety.

• More is not safer, and low dose does not remove interaction or product-quality risk.

• Cycling does not reliably prevent tolerance, dependence or harm.

Optional schedule design: arrange bounded practice around actual alertness, access, work, care and recovery. No universal weekly schedule applies.

Outcomes to review after Program D

• Defined task quality, completion time, interruptions, support and burden compared with baseline.

• Attention performance on the declared task; no 90-minute threshold is required.

• Retrieval accuracy and delayed retention for the selected material; no 80 percent SRS target applies.

• Use of a memory-palace or another cue only on the task trained; availability “for any memorisation” is not assumed.

• Self-reported absorption may be noted, but three weekly flow entries are not a result.

• Retention and predeclared transfer on one new task; “faster learning” is not inferred globally.

• Any change in fatigue or cognitive symptoms remains non-specific and routes to care when persistent or concerning.

• Keep, adapt or retire the practices according to function, burden, safety and evidence; sustainability is not assumed.
