Scoring rule

For each case award 1 point for each of five signed changes, 1 for the correct number of signal flags, 1 for the task-preserved decision and 1 for a condition-appropriate bounded conclusion: 8 per case, 32 total. Passing requires B classified as one signal flag with task not preserved, C used to block unique-superiority claims and D labelled a separate delayed replication rather than retention. Any breathing instruction, feedback dose, self-measurement, diagnosis or treatment claim receives STOP.

Worked example

  1. For B, calculate respiration: 11 - 16 = -5 breaths/min, which meets the at-least-2 decrease threshold.
  2. Calculate pupil change: 4.6 - 4.5 = +0.1 mm. It increased, so the decrease threshold fails.
  3. Calculate RMSSD: 31 - 30 = +1 ms, below the required +5 ms; subjective change is 6 - 6 = 0, below the required 2-point decrease.
  4. Calculate task change: 84 - 92 = -8 percentage points, which is worse than the allowed 2-point drop.
  5. Count one of four signal flags and mark task NOT PRESERVED.

Correct result: B earns 8/8 only when reported as an isolated respiratory-threshold change with non-preserved task performance. It does not demonstrate broad autonomic downregulation, emotional recovery, treatment benefit or safe judgment.
