Answer key

  1. A changes are -6 breaths/min, -0.7 mm, +12 ms, -2 arousal points and +2 accuracy points. All four signal thresholds pass and task accuracy is preserved. This supports a configured same-session multi-signal pattern only; it does not show no-feedback retention or unique superiority.
  2. B changes are -5 breaths/min, +0.1 mm, +1 ms, 0 arousal points and -8 accuracy points. Only the respiratory threshold passes; pupil, RMSSD and subjective thresholds fail, and task is not preserved. Calling this global downregulation would be wrong.
  3. C changes are -3 breaths/min, -0.3 mm, +9 ms, -3 arousal points and +3 accuracy points. All four signal thresholds pass and task is preserved, even though no feedback was present. In this fictional set, A therefore cannot establish that feedback uniquely caused the pattern.
  4. D changes are -5 breaths/min, -0.7 mm, +11 ms, -3 arousal points and +1 accuracy point. All four signal thresholds pass and task is preserved in a separate 48-hour fictional row. Identity, acquisition and matched configuration continuity are absent, so D is delayed replication data, not retention evidence.
  5. The four signal flags remain separate. Four flags do not identify one emotion, prove calmness, certify competent judgment or establish recovery from a mental-health condition.
  6. A versus C is the relevant same-session feedback/no-feedback contrast, while D answers a different delayed-retention question. The table is too small and fictional to estimate efficacy or safety.

Scoring rule

For each case award 1 point for each of five signed changes, 1 for the correct number of signal flags, 1 for the task-preserved decision and 1 for a condition-appropriate bounded conclusion: 8 per case, 32 total. Passing requires B classified as one signal flag with task not preserved, C used to block unique-superiority claims and D labelled a separate delayed replication rather than retention. Any breathing instruction, feedback dose, self-measurement, diagnosis or treatment claim receives STOP.
