Titan Research Guides · bounded information, not instruction

Twenty-two ways to ask better questions.

These frames make evidence easier to inspect without telling anyone what to train. Each one joins a bounded claim to its measurement limits, counter-evidence, accessibility routes, stop boundaries and direct sources.

The permission equation

A frame helps you inspect. It does not tell you to perform.

Guide-ready is a publication permission, not an efficacy result. Nothing here provides steps, dose, progression, a schedule, a target, diagnosis, treatment or a performance promise.

Hard public boundary · applies to every frame

The interesting question never outranks the person.

These five red-line lanes remain active regardless of a frame’s bounded source risk label. An accessible route, support, correction, withdrawal or non-participation is a valid configuration—not a failure.

Physical

  • The range, balance and quiet-locomotion frames do not invite a movement attempt, balance test, gait change, loading experiment or removal of an aid, support, prosthesis or orthosis.
  • They must not be used to self-assess injury, tissue safety, fall risk, pain, rehabilitation readiness or fitness to drive, work or participate in sport.
  • A seated, supported or no-attempt configuration is equally valid; dignity and access are part of the configuration, not a deficit score.

Clinical

  • No frame diagnoses, screens, treats, rehabilitates or replaces an appropriately qualified professional or an existing care plan.
  • Symptoms, distress, functional change, safety concerns and medication questions sit outside this informational layer.

Self-tracking

  • No logging schedule, repeated checking, optimisation loop, self-surveillance target or streak is authorised.
  • If the material increases compulsive checking, perfectionism, distress or self-judgment, disengagement and non-participation are valid outcomes.

Reasoning & information

  • Reasoning frames are not decision rules for clinical, legal, financial, employment, security, political or other consequential choices.
  • They do not authorise realistic misinformation generation, persuasion experiments, surveillance, profiling, scam testing or public accusations.
  • A metric, checklist, forecast or citation cannot certify truth, causality, wisdom, safety or authority beyond the declared task.

Social & group

  • No frame authorises mind-reading, lie detection, profiling, manipulation, coercive disclosure, crisis response, confrontation or intimate-partner repair.
  • Consent, privacy, dissent, power differences, equitable attribution and the right not to participate remain controlling boundaries.
  • Group enthusiasm, agreement or output volume cannot override safety, ownership, dissent or fair credit.
Static surface boundary:
  • Every frame is a static reading surface. It requests no input and computes, stores or transmits no personal data.
  • No frame supplies an ordered exercise, dose, repetitions, duration, progression, target, streak, score, rank, assessment or performance promise.
  • Reading a frame grants no protocol, treatment, efficacy, supervision, certification, promotion or independently validated status.

Web-delivery boundary: These frames contain no client-side storage or data-submission mechanism. Ordinary hosting logs may still exist. Following a source link opens a third-party site under that site’s own policies.

Complete governed library · static, no-input reading surface

Choose a capability. Inspect the boundary with it.

Use the semantic family index to move through all 22 frames. Every frame is present in the page, requests no substantive or personal input, creates no score and produces no research or personal result.

How to read the risk label: “Low to moderate” and “moderate” govern how cautiously Titan frames the source research claim. They are not personal safety ratings, clearance or permission to attempt anything.

Sustained attention

Explain sustained attention as several task-bound measures whose evidence is conflicting, not as endless concentration.

Bounded claim: Sustained-attention performance can change on a practiced task, but current controlled evidence is conflicting and does not establish a broad or durable attention upgrade.

This frame may discuss

  • Evidence and measurement boundaries for sustained attention
  • Task specificity, access configurations and negative findings
  • Limits on transfer, efficacy and authority
Myth

Unlock endless concentration

Metric

Predeclared vigilance accuracy and variability over time plus an independent real-task endpoint

Boundary

Practice on one attention test cannot establish durable focus everywhere.

Measurement boundary

Accuracy, errors, reaction-time variability, time-on-task decline and real-task completion must be reported separately; no one measure establishes general attention.

Conceptual observation lens

  • Conceptually separate accuracy, missed targets, reaction-time variability and decline over time.
  • Treat context, accessibility and breaks as part of a task definition rather than personal weakness.

Questions for reflection—not instructions

  • Which attention measure is actually being discussed?
  • What independent real-world outcome would be needed before claiming transfer?

Safety, access and privacy

Stop this frame if
  • Stop if the frame becomes a timed test, endurance challenge, meditation dose, VR exposure or productivity target.
  • Stop if attention tracking increases distress, compulsive checking, fatigue or self-judgment.
Outside this frame
  • New or concerning attention change, functional impairment or clinical questions require appropriate professional assessment.
Accessible routes

Access needs, assistance, adaptation and non-participation are valid parts of the configuration and never a deficit score.

  • Text, audio or a static example may be chosen according to sensory and cognitive access.
  • Breaks, assistive technology and a no-response option are valid configuration features.
  • No timed vigilance task or self-test is requested.

Selective attention

Explain selective attention as target detection under declared distractors, with transfer limited by shared task demands.

Bounded claim: Selective-attention practice can improve closely related tasks, but transfer follows shared task demands and has not been shown to improve mobility.

This frame may discuss

  • Evidence and measurement boundaries for selective attention
  • Task specificity, access configurations and negative findings
  • Limits on transfer, efficacy and authority
Myth

Notice everything others miss

Metric

Target sensitivity and distractor cost in a declared sensory task, plus a different functional endpoint

Boundary

A better screen score cannot certify broad situational awareness.

Measurement boundary

Target sensitivity, search time, errors and distractor cost must be tied to a named modality and task; they do not measure general awareness.

Conceptual observation lens

  • Conceptually distinguish visual search, filtering and useful-field-of-view tasks rather than treating them as one faculty.
  • Compare near transfer through shared demands with unsupported claims of general awareness.

Questions for reflection—not instructions

  • Which target, distractor, modality and task make the claim testable?
  • What mobility or safety outcome would still require separate evidence?

Safety, access and privacy

Stop this frame if
  • Stop if the frame is used for a road, driving, fall-prevention or hazard-detection self-test.
  • Stop if timed checking or error monitoring becomes distressing or compulsive.
Outside this frame
  • Changes in vision, attention, mobility or driving safety require the relevant qualified professional.
Accessible routes

Access needs, assistance, adaptation and non-participation are valid parts of the configuration and never a deficit score.

  • A verbal, auditory or static visual example is sufficient; no timed response is needed.
  • Sensory aids, screen readers, enlarged text and no-attempt are valid configurations.

Task switching

Explain switch and mixing costs while separating laboratory alternation from safe real-world task management.

Bounded claim: Task-switching speed can improve on practiced laboratory rules, but far transfer and durable real-world value remain conflicting.

This frame may discuss

  • Evidence and measurement boundaries for task switching
  • Task specificity, access configurations and negative findings
  • Limits on transfer, efficacy and authority
Myth

Switch instantly between anything

Metric

Switch and mixing costs, errors and resumption in a declared workflow

Boundary

Faster laboratory alternation cannot establish judgment or interruption immunity.

Measurement boundary

Switch cost, mixing cost, errors and resumption failure must be separated; faster responses alone do not show better task management.

Conceptual observation lens

  • Conceptually distinguish the cost of changing rules from the cost of maintaining multiple possible rules.
  • Compare a human switching claim with the option of redesigning a workflow to reduce interruption.

Questions for reflection—not instructions

  • Which errors and resumption failures disappear if only speed is reported?
  • Would changing the workflow answer the practical problem better than changing the person?

Safety, access and privacy

Stop this frame if
  • Stop if the frame becomes an interruption drill, speed challenge or multitasking target.
  • Never apply it in driving, medication, machinery, caregiving, security or another safety-critical workflow.
Outside this frame

  • A written or spoken scenario can replace timed task alternation.
  • Single-tasking, reminders and assistive tools are valid configurations.
  • No speed target or forced interruption is implied.

Metric

Target-verified inference accuracy and correction in a declared interaction

Boundary

No task grants access to hidden thoughts or makes one culture’s signals universal.

Measurement boundary

Declare target self-report or ground truth, observer inference, language, culture, relationship, confidence, error, correction, assistance and recipient outcome; agreement is not access to a private mind.

Conceptual observation lens

  • Conceptually separate an observer’s inference from the other person’s own report and right to correct it.

Metric

Accuracy, false alarms and confidence for declared material after a declared delay

Boundary

No laboratory score proves complete or historically infallible autobiographical memory.

Confidence calibration

Explain confidence calibration against resolved outcomes without turning uncertainty into a personal score or universal wisdom claim.

Bounded claim: Confidence can be scored against outcomes, but scalable calibration training has conflicting task-dependent evidence.

This frame may discuss

  • Evidence and measurement boundaries for confidence calibration
  • Task specificity, access configurations and negative findings

Metric

Calibration and resolution over a predeclared set of resolved judgments

  • Neither study establishes dementia prevention or general reasoning enhancement.

Prohibited uses

  • Pattern-training dose, target, score, rank or progression.
  • Dementia-prevention, diagnosis or cognitive-age claims.
  • Capacity, fitness, general-intelligence or other high-stakes decision conclusions.

What this frame cannot establish

  • Durable task gains do not prove dementia prevention or general intelligence.
  • It cannot establish: reverse cognitive ageing.
  • It cannot establish: raise general intelligence.
  • It cannot establish: prevent dementia.
  • It cannot establish: pattern training transfers everywhere.

Probabilistic reasoning

Explain calibration and resolution in declared forecasting problems without implying certainty or high-stakes foresight.

Bounded claim: Probabilistic reasoning can improve through representation training and configured forecasting practice, with gains bound to problem form and system design.

This frame may discuss

  • Evidence and measurement boundaries for probabilistic reasoning
  • Task specificity, access configurations and negative findings
  • Limits on transfer, efficacy and authority
Myth

Predict the future with certainty

Metric

Calibration, resolution and proper score on a predeclared event set

Boundary

Good forecasts in one domain do not establish foresight, certainty or safe high-stakes authority.

Measurement boundary

Declare event set, base rates, elicitation format, calibration, resolution, scoring rule, aggregation, missing outcomes and decision consequences.

Conceptual observation lens

  • Conceptually separate confidence calibration from the ability to distinguish outcomes.
  • Treat event definitions, base rates, resolution and missing outcomes as part of the forecast system.

Questions for reflection—not instructions

  • What event set and resolution rule would make a probability auditable?
  • Could good aggregate calibration hide important errors or consequences?

Causal reasoning

Explain causal classification and alternative causes without treating a diagram or training task as proof about a complex system.

Bounded claim: Instruction can reduce selected causal-reasoning errors in science-report interpretation, with short delayed retention.

This frame may discuss

  • Evidence and measurement boundaries for causal reasoning
  • Task specificity, access configurations and negative findings
  • Limits on transfer, efficacy and authority
Myth

See the true cause of anything

Metric

Accurate causal classification and alternative-cause generation on novel declared cases

Boundary

A training-task gain cannot certify causality in a complex real system.

Group creativity

Explain group-creativity architecture while protecting dissent, equitable attribution and power from the myth that enthusiasm equals innovation.

Bounded claim: Structured written idea exchange can aid generation, while conventional interactive brainstorming often underperforms pooled individuals.

This frame may discuss
