3 · The method

Follow these steps in order

  1. Restate the decision frame

    Write the cable function, audience, hard constraints and what the shortlist will permit: prototype, not implementation.

    Why: Convergence requires a stable question and authority boundary.

  2. Cluster by mechanism

    Group related ideas while keeping source labels on every component. Name each cluster by function.

  3. Define rating anchors

Measure what changed

Traceability and constraint quality of a three-option shortlist.

How: Audit criterion separation, hard-gate compliance, mechanism diversity, lineage, stated trade-offs and next-test questions; compare an independent reviewer’s reconstructed choices.

Good result: All shortlisted options pass the hard gates and represent three mechanisms; a delayed reviewer can reconstruct each inclusion, rejection and combination from the stated anchors, evidence and A–L lineage. Any mismatch is versioned rather than converted into an arbitrary percentage pass.
