Staged checking material

Answer key

  1. Set X exact pairs are NERAL–amber hexagon, POVIN–teal star, RAKU–silver circle, SELA–violet square, TOVIN–green triangle and WEX–blue crescent.
  2. Set Y exact pairs are BIRA–green crescent, CAVO–violet triangle, DENI–amber circle, FALU–blue square, GOMA–silver star and HESI–teal hexagon.
  3. The mixed test order is SELA, GOMA, NERAL, FALU, TOVIN, BIRA, WEX, DENI, POVIN, HESI, RAKU, CAVO; each answer is scored against its source-set key, not its neighbouring item.
  4. Heads assigns all six X items to retrieval and all six Y items to restudy. Tails reverses that assignment. The outcome calculation always uses actual condition, not the letters X and Y alone.
  5. A complete response requires both colour and shape. ‘Amber’ for NERAL or ‘hexagon’ alone is incorrect under this declared exact-pair criterion.
  6. A missed T+24-hour review, answer cue, or extra exposure does not erase the item score, but it must be recorded because the retention configuration changed.

Scoring rule

At T+72 hours, award 1 point only for each exact colour-and-shape pair and 0 otherwise. Each assigned condition contains six items. Calculate Retrieval correct/6, Restudy correct/6, and the raw difference Retrieval minus Restudy; percentage-point difference is (Retrieval/6 − Restudy/6) × 100. Report missed reviews, cues, assistance and burden beside the scores. Do not average in the practice attempts. A difference on twelve invented items is a bounded within-person observation, not proof that one method is universally superior or that anything was learned permanently.

Authority boundary: A governed step-by-step lesson may be completed independently inside its stated limits.
